Working Experience

Clinical

Dr. Shekhar has worked for 30 years in Orthopaedics, of which 10 years have been spent in England ; 2 years in Teaching Hospitals in Liverpool , and 1 year in a highly specialized hip surgery centre at Wrightington Hospital .  He has worked for 4 years at King Faizal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia , dealing with tertiary care problems of neglected trauma, tumour surgery, severe spinal deformities, rehabilitation of poliomyelitis, late CDH and tuberculosis.
He returned to India in June 1990 and for the last 18 years He has been engaged in active private practice.  He is at present Head of Department and Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics at Delhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics.  This is an academic department in the private sector with 6 Registrars, 1 Associate Consultant and 4 Consultants. The department has 6 post graduate students studying for the DNB degree in Orthopaedics awarded by the National Board of Examination.
He is a recognized post graduate teacher for the National Board of Examination. He has six post-graduate students undergoing training and writing thesis under my supervision for the DNB degree in Orthopaedics. He takes two new post-graduate students per year. 
He has performed more than 17,000 operations in Delhi , 4000 total hip and knee replacements He attracts patients from all over North India , Nepal , Bangladesh , Dubai and Thailand.

Administrative

Dr. Shekhar Agarwal is Executive Director of Sant Parmanand Hospital , 150 bedded general hospital with all modern facilities.  He is  actively involved in the development and planning of the Hospital besides looking after day to day administration.
He has been instrumental in establishing the department of Orthopaedics at Jaipur Golden Hospital where he was the Chairman of Orthopaedics for 6 years.  At present, He is Executive Director of Sant Parmanand Hospital , which also has the Delhi Institute of Trauma & Orthopaedics (DITO).  He is responsible for the development, planning and running of this 150 bedded hospital.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

30 years:
During the M.S. Course in the University of Delhi , he taught undergraduate medical students.  This included giving formal lectures and clinical teaching in the wards and outpatient clinics.  The postgraduate training programme included presentation of cases at weekly clinical meetings and journal clubs.
While working at the Royal Liverpool Hospital , he has given tutorials to the undergraduate medical students of the University of Liverpool in England
At present he use to conduct weekly clinical meetings of the department for difficult/interesting cases and journal club.  He has six DNB candidates undergoing post graduate training under his guidance and an active member of Delhi Orthopaedic Association, having been its Vice President and President in the past, Dr. Shekhar Agarwal has attended many conferences as faculty at regional, National and International conferences.  He also conducts hands on workshop on Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement and given guest lectures.
